AI is not the silver bullet that people tell you it is.
It can manage some jobs really well, I love fathom for instance. I hate taking notes and it does that job better than I ever have BUT (there is always a but).
If a job needs a little bit of intuition, a need to look at things and use your judgement. When things don’t seem quite right, and you can’t quite put your finger on it…… don’t use AI and don’t automate whatever it is.
I keep fish and corals, tank was amazing, looked really good. Then I automated and stopped paying attention. I trusted the robots and they let me down. It made me lazy and now I have sick coral that I am trying to revive.
I spent years growing this tank and it was so much better when I paid attention and did things myself (it was also more enjoyable).
Guess what’s happening from now, I am taking back control.
its no different with what we do at work, some simple things will work well (note taking). But if you expect AI and automation to take all of the work away …….. guess what, it won’t.
If you think it will solve your hiring process or job search…. nope it will put people off either way.
Humans are still needed to make those judgements and interventions that AI just can’t (maybe one day they will, but not today).
We’ve made a big jump, but there is a huge jump yet to come.
