When you first start out as a delivery manager it’s easy to focus on the happy path, development completes and testing is just a formality that new features breeze through (rarely the case).
If you fall into this trap, when bugs or badly implemented features are uncovered, your stress levels will probably rise through the ceiling and you may well get frustrated with your testers, but DON’T, they are saving your bacon.
- The bug/misunderstood feature is better found in development than in the live environment, regardless of the time taken to remedy.
- Your future sprints will not be disrupted by having to fix production issues, making your delivery more predictable and your team less stressed.
- They have probably found an area that the devs can improve and become more efficient.
Nothing can slow your team down more than regular incidents in the live environment!!
Make the testers your new best friends, they are helping you and the team to improve quality of delivery.
